Mathematical Models in Quantifying Personal Productivity Among High School Students

Abstract :
While there is literature on defining personal productivity and connected factors, no studies have covered the personal productivity of high school students, nor found a method of quantifying it. The purpose of this study was to fill this gap and study productivity among high school students to inform the process of creating a mathematical model to quantify personal productivity. Data was collected from 10 participants using a quantitative method, with participants answering Math and English questions modeled after high school Algebra I, Geometry, and Digital SAT content over three separate sessions. After each assessment session, participants were asked to self-score their Perceived Personal Productivity (PPP) on a scale from 1 to 10. The data suggested that the main components of high school students’ productivity were amount, accuracy, and efficiency, and the relationship between PPP and actual productivity showed weak correspondence. Drawing from these preliminary findings, a model was created which relates the relevant factors of productivity.
